Vallverdú's 27 unglazed terracotta goddesses fill the Castell de Concabella
The sculptor Jaume Vallverdú, who lives in Concabella, is showing 27 terracotta sculptures at the castle, hand-built and fired at a high temperature. The pieces are unglazed and carry engraved messages that can be read using the Catalan alphabet.
Why it matters: It lets you see how a whole series in unglazed terracotta works, where the modelling and the engraved text carry the entire surface of the piece.
